A-Tisket, A-Tasket, Eggs In a Basket

Hello Dear Readers,

Thank you for not giving up on us.  Life has a way of catching up with us sometimes, and we get busier than we'd like to admit.  Well, we're admitting it.  But, we are going to do our best to get back on track and continue posting...here we go!

So I've always loved the 1987 Cher classic, Moonstruck.  In one scene, Olympia Dukakis is making "Eggs In a Basket" so I gave it a try.  It was love at first bite, and I've been making it ever since.  It's simple, fast and delicious, and easy to doctor up with simple ingredients.

The music, the actors, the hair, la famila...such a great movie! (Image from IMDb)

A simple breakfast (or lunch or dinner)
Eggs in a Basket: The Recipe
  • Butter each side of your favorite slice of bread (you can also spray pan to avoid sticking)
  • Cut out the center (you can use a cookie cutter if you want a special shape) and place on warm skillet
  • Crack an egg in the center and cook, add salt/pepper and flip to cook both sides
  • Added bonus: add a slice of tomato, vermont cheddar and some fresh basil (melt the cheese to perfection); you can also add some red pepper seed or a few splashes of Frank's RedHot Sauce if you want a kick
  • Serve hot and manga!

Stay fabulous!

We're baaaack!

Hello lovely sisters and thoughtful readers (hopefully we still have a few!),
I wish I could start this blog with the most exciting details of my travels to a far off country, or tell you that I have been busy writing my memoirs, but, I cannot. I simply have been busy. Busy with the many mundane details that make our lives worth living. That being said, I just had one of those fabulous trips to visit my family and friends. I spent time with the people I loved and got to catch up on many things! Additionally, I made some "plans" for the spring (oh, pretty please be around the corner)! As the great John Lennon once said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans".

Number one: Learn to make macaroons! Special K and I were flipping through a book at Anthropologie earlier today and gushing over the pictures and ingredients in macaroons. Does anyone have some good insight on how to perfect these tricky bites?

Number two: Plan a trip to Paris! I have never been and oh how I would love, love to see the lights and eat in french bistros and go antiquing. If I ever actually go, I will need some suggestions from fellow-thoughtfuls on the best places. Check out these gorgeous pictures!

It feels good to be back! - Ciao, MM

D if for DIOR!

So I am a seriously sleep-deprived mom right now...my son just cut two little teeth and despite all our efforts to soothe his gums, he's not been sleeping well.  My only hope is to disguise my less than vibrant skin with the most wonderful. product. ever. EVER.  With the perfect blend of moisturizer and tint, this gives me the look of 8 hrs. when I've only had 4!  Magic.

D is for...

Hello sisters and readers,

D is for Dishes!!!! This may seem a little odd, but I have been scrambling for Christmas ideas and I think this is a great one. If you are trying to give a gift that isn't too expensive, is creative, and you can knock out several gifts in one stop to the store, then dishes are your solution! Places likes Anthropology, Target, Ralph Lauren have tons of adorable plates. And really, who wouldn't want to get a cute dish with their favorite homemade cookies or other treats on it??

Dine well, friends!
Until we meet again,
MJ Mini

Give Thanks for the Good Stuff

Dear Sisters and Readers,
Thanksgiving is a time for appreciating all the blessings in life...family, friends, delicious eats and more.  And let's face it...it can be a time of decadence.  In the spirit of a little indulgence, check out these luxurious items. Once you're done drooling over the overpriced sweetness, move on to the real meaning behind the season.

James List
If you're in the market for some serious bling, a Ferrari, a high end property or even a private jet, this is where to find it.  Whether you're buying, selling or chartering, this site is "The World's Smartest Luxury Marketplace."

This red Ferrari FXX can be yours for $2.45 million

This million dollar Audemars Piguet watch is sure to turn some heads
Take a seat on your private boat in Spain

This amazing Wyoming view can be yours for a mere $69.5 million

With so much to be thankful for, there's nothing more rewarding than giving back to others.  One of my favorite websites is Kiva.org.  I had the chance to hear the founder of this organization speak, and it is a truly inspiring idea.  Kiva's mission is to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty.

Pendo Luisi, 27 years old, borrowed $175 to open a cafe in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
By combining microfinance with the internet, Kiva is creating a global community of people connected through lending. This holiday, instead of giving more "stuff," consider a gift card to Kiva where the recipient can lend to an entrepreneur across the globe.

Happy Thanksgiving!
